Get Well Soon

Started reading 'A Million Little Pieces' yesterday. Needless to say that I can't keep it down even when what I should really be reading is MIS (Management Information Systems), Collections Management Policy, VB et al for my end semester exams next week.

James Frey was only 23 years old when all hell broke lose. What impresses me the most after reading 50 odd pages is his desire, marred with dejection, to get well which is surely a rarity.

I say so because I recently came to know that one of my friends from school is "under the influence" with no desire whatsoever to get back on the right track. Though the guy in question was a rebel back then as well and I, a rebel in my own right, used to find him very intriguing indeed. Being lab partners and sitting together made us good friends. His elder bro as it turned out, fancied me at one point of time but nothing happened there (like always and to think that he's a doctor in London now makes me want to... never mind) and on the last day of the finals, we ended up together on a double date (read disaster) with our respective partners.

I knew of his ways back then and would often talk about people and life in general and I remember once saying to him, "You know you owe your life to so many people, your parents, friends and family that you have no right to take it.." while talking about fagging. He in turn, once said, "Don't try to patronize me, H.."

Now as I hear about his state, I so wish he becomes another 'James Frey'.

He once gave me a beautiful card saying,"You know girls die to get a compliment from me." It had a picture of a vase full of yellow flowers with one red rose standing tall amongst it and read:
You are one of a kind who stands above the rest.

I still cherish it to date and wish I could tell you A that so are you.

P.S - Read also my previous post titled 'Liar Liar' for more on James Frey.
