Love Lost

‘I have nothing to offer you except the joy of belonging to you’ reads the bookmark I bought during my honeymoon which is now affixed on my dressing mirror. I seldom acknowledge its presence but when I do, it makes me stop in my tracks and become still.

Love is surrender but can one ever surrender completely? Love is eternal but can one remember their loved ones forever?

If you love someone, there is no guarantee that you would end up together. Many things tend to get in the way. I would, however like to focus on two such things. The first one is completely not in one’s hands. What if the one you love to death actually dies on you? How do you move on? Surprisingly you do and, as I found out, in great style.

The second instance is when two lovers know they cannot share the journey of life as their destinations are completely different. When two lovers consciously decide to part ways and hope for the best. When they know that they simply do not share each other’s aspirations and expectations from life. Then there’s Dominique Francon and Howard Roark (The Fountainhead – Ayn Rand) who know that they simply cannot be together for their own sake!
